Vancouver, Canada · Writer · Filmmaker · Producer
Stories pulled from the quiet edges of living — written first, then filmed.
About
Giovanni Doray is a Vancouver-based writer, filmmaker, and producer working across narrative film and the page. His short films Ledges (2025) and Once, In Palm Springs have established a voice that is precise, emotionally grounded, and distinctly his own — cinematic without being showy, intimate without being small.
He develops his own material from the ground up — writing the script, producing the project, and directing with the kind of control that comes from knowing exactly what story he's trying to tell. Two feature projects, Paper Bride and Being Here, are currently in development.
His writing extends beyond film. He has contributed criticism and cultural coverage to the Georgia Straight, and his essays explore the discipline and cost of creative work. He is based in Vancouver and works between Canada and Los Angeles.
"I make things because some feelings don't have anywhere else to go."
